A precision dual-headed leather edge tool with a brass cone roller tip for smooth dye application and a detail spatula for refining and shaping edges. Built from zinc alloy and brass with a knurled anti-slip handle, it combines two essential leathercraft finishing tools into one compact, balanced instrument.
.
.
★ WHY THIS TOOL
Most edge dye pens are single-function and plasticky. This one is different in two ways. First, it is dual-ended: one end applies dye, paint, or glue with a smooth rolling cone tip; the other end refines and smooths the edge with a precision detail spatula. Two tools in one, with no switching between implements mid-project.
Second, the build quality is genuinely good. The zinc alloy body with brass cone tip and knurled metal handle feels solid and balanced in the hand. The ball bearing inside the cone tip allows effortless, skip-free rotation so dye flows evenly without pressing hard or dragging.
.
.
★ WHAT'S INCLUDED
◦ 1 x dual-ended leather edge dye pen
◦ Brass cone roller tip (17mm) on one end for dye, paint, glue, or burnishing compound application
◦ Detail spatula (25mm) on the other end for smoothing, refining, and shaping edges
◦ Knurled zinc alloy handle (84mm, 7mm diameter) with anti-slip texture
◦ Built-in ball bearing for smooth, consistent roller rotation
◦ Total length: 126mm / 12.6cm
.
.
★ THE TWO ENDS EXPLAINED
Brass cone roller tip (dye application end)
The fluted brass cone sits on a ball bearing that allows it to spin freely with minimal pressure. Roll it along a leather edge loaded with dye, edge paint, gum tragacanth, or contact cement and it deposits a smooth, even line without skipping, streaking, or pooling. The cone shape lets it follow the contour of the leather edge naturally, including curves and corners.
Suitable for leather thicker than 3mm used on its own as a straight application tip.
Detail spatula (finishing end)
The 25mm flat spatula on the opposite end is used after dye application to smooth, compress, and refine the edge. It removes any uneven spots left by the dye stage, blends the finish into the leather surface, and can also be used as a glue spreader for contact cement or PVA on leather joins.
.
.
★ THE KNURLED HANDLE
The 84mm handle section is machined with a crosshatch knurl pattern that provides grip even with oily or dye-stained hands. The 7mm diameter keeps the tool pen-like and easy to control for detail work. The weight and balance sit naturally in the hand without fatigue during long finishing sessions.
.
.
★ HOW TO USE IT — 3 STEPS
Load the cone roller tip with edge dye, edge paint, or burnishing compound
Roll the cone tip evenly along the leather edge with light, consistent pressure — the ball bearing does the work
Flip the tool and use the detail spatula to smooth, blend, and refine the edge to a clean, professional finish
For glue application: load the spatula end with contact cement or PVA and spread evenly across the leather surface in one clean stroke.
.
.
★ WHAT YOU CAN USE IT ON
◦ Belt edges and watch strap edges
◦ Wallet and card holder edges
◦ Bag handles and tote straps
◦ Notebook and journal cover edges
◦ Shoe edges and insoles
◦ Any vegetable-tanned or chrome-tanned leather project requiring a finished edge
Compatible with: edge paint, leather dye, gum tragacanth, tokonole, contact cement, PVA glue, and most water-based or oil-based edge finishes.

★ A NOTE ON EDGE FINISHING
