✦ The 8-Needle Wooden Handle: Why It Matters
Most basic felting kits include a single awl and leave you stabbing the same spot hundreds of times. The 8-needle wooden handle changes that. Loaded with up to 8 needles at once, it covers a large surface area in a fraction of the time — ideal for backgrounds, animal bodies, and any area where you need even, fast coverage.

Most beginners don't realise that needle gauge makes an enormous difference to the result:
36 gauge (coarse) — your starting needle. Moves fibre quickly, great for rough shaping in the early stages of a project. If you're building a 3D form or bonding layers together, start here.
38 gauge (medium) — your workhorse. Once the basic shape is there, switch to 38 for smoothing the surface and adding more controlled detail.
40 gauge (fine) — your finisher. Use this for the final surface work: blending colours, sharpening edges, and adding crisp, clean detail. Especially good for faces and fine patterns.
